What I think about poetry.
When I think of poetry, I think of Dr. Suess and Robert Frost. Obviously very different people. I also think of long, complicated lines of words strung together which don’t really make sense until you step back and look at it as a whole. Either way, I have never really had a passion for poetry. I have splitted opinions about it, though. On one hand, I think some types of it are kind of boring and more for older people. On the otehr hand, though, I think some kinds of poetry are actually really cool and fun to read. The types that I think are cool are really descriptive, and can clearly paint an image in the reader’s mind which I think is pretty amazing (the fact that words could do that).
There are some types of poetry that I like, for example rhyming poems, alliteration (I don’t know why, I like the simpleness of it I guess) that kind of stuff. I like short poems that are easy to understand and that you don’t have to wonder all day about what the writer was actually trying to say, since it’s already there. However, if the poet is a great writer, then the poem will be that much better and easier to image.
Overall, I think that poetry is an interesting way for people to express their feelings and that it’s amazing what some people can do just by extending their thoughts and writing about them. Also, how much they can write about a single topic!
